Our Approach
The Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Center has been specifically designed to house the premier institution dedicated to advancing women’s aspirations for development in Africa. Through its programme of work, it focuses on pushing for gender equality through leadership development; strategic research and communications; and archives.

Leadership Development
Building on the legacy of effective women leadership, the EJS Center provides the ideal nexus for a comprehensive leadership development for aspiring women leaders. The first of many programs focusing on cultivating excellence in women leaders is the Amujae Initiative. The initiative aims to shift the landscape for women in public service leadership.
Research & Communications
Knowledge and information is key in any fight for equality and access to resources. Combining strategic research and communications, the EJS Center serves as resource hub for researchers, policymakers and the media, designed to accurately inform and reframe the narrative around gender equality.

Archives
The purpose-built EJS Center will house archives detailing the legacies of African women’s leadership, including two collections on Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf’s life and achievements.
