While not always properly recognized for their contributions, women have been at the forefront of Africa’s progress and development. In business, philanthropy, diplomacy, and governance, women are advancing inclusive growth and delivering positive change across the continent and around the world.

We are pleased to see that Avance Media has recently published a list of the ‘100 Most Influential African Women 2020,’ honoring inspiring women leaders across a range of sectors. Criteria for selection included excellence in leadership and performance, personal accomplishments, commitment to sharing knowledge, breaking the status quo, and being an accomplished African woman.

We congratulate all of the women recognized on the list for their hard work, leadership, and dedication. It is an opportunity to acknowledge that Africa is well-endowed with capable, values-driven women leaders, who have a lasting impact on their communities, their countries, and beyond. As we work to advance women’s public leadership across Africa, we are uplifted by the stories of these women and countless others who are breaking down barriers every day.

We are also pleased to see that several women involved in the EJS Center and our programming have been featured on this year’s publication. We would, therefore, like to take this opportunity to congratulate EJS Center founder and former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Board Member Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Amujae Coaches Dr. Vera Songwe and Winnie Byanyima, and Amujae Leader Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, OBE for receiving this recognition.
