Amujae Leader Malado Kaba joined an episode of Voice of America’s ‘Daybreak Africa’ to speak about her experience in the inaugural cohort of Amujae Leaders. Malado explained the purpose of the EJS Center and how its flagship program, the Amujae Initiative, supports African women interested in advancing on their path as public leaders.
“The Center was found in 2018 to be a catalyst for political and social change across Africa, particularly by helping unleash our most abundant latent power, which is women…The Amujae Initiative has been quite an amazing experience because it gave me the unique opportunity to get access to experienced African women, most of broke the glass ceiling in their own field…
“We had amazing discussions with President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf herself, also with President Joyce Banda, President Samba-Panza, and also we’ve had discussions with prominent women working for international institutions, whether in the IMF or the UN. Those women also had to go through their own journey and we can really share, and also build upon their experience.”
The interview ended with an important reminder from Malado: the deadline to apply for the 2021 cohort of Amujae Leaders is today, September 30, at 23:59 GMT. Click here to learn more about the program and apply. Listen to the full Daybreak Africa interview below (starting from 21:14).
