Policy Advisor to the President of Zambia and Deputy Head of the Presidential Delivery Unit [Zambia]

Chipokota Mwanawasa is a distinguished public servant, legal expert, and entrepreneur who serves as the policy advisor to the president of Zambia, His Excellency Hakainde Hichilema. She also holds the position of Deputy Head of the Presidential Delivery Unit, where she plays a pivotal role in advancing key government initiatives and delivering results on national priorities.

Before her current roles in government, Ms. Mwanawasa worked as a legal officer and executive assistant to the vice president of human capital at one of Africa’s largest integrated copper mines. Her diverse career also includes entrepreneurship as the founder of an innovative livestock crowd-farming venture, which she has successfully scaled into a meat retail small and medium enterprise (SME).

Ms. Mwanawasa holds an MSc in Public Policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science, an LLM in Commercial Law from the University of Cape Town, and an LLB in English and French Law from the University of Kent. She has also worked as a researcher in the United Kingdom, Zambia, and South Africa, contributing to policy and legal scholarship.

A recipient of the prestigious Chevening Scholarship in 2018, Ms. Mwanawasa was also awarded the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award by the Zambia Bureau of Standards that same year. She co-authored the discussion paper Elections in Africa: Preparing a Democratic Playbook with The Brenthurst Foundation, showcasing her thought leadership on governance and democracy in Africa.

In addition to her professional achievements, Ms. Mwanawasa is actively involved in charitable work and advocacy for underprivileged communities. Her commitment to social impact, public policy, and entrepreneurship reflects her dedication to fostering development and innovation in Zambia and beyond.
