Angela Nwaka

Nurse, Consultant, Legislator, NGO Director

Angela is a nurse, consultant, former Delta State House Member and NGO director from Nigeria. She relocated to the United States in 1985, where she later attended Rutgers University in New Jersey, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN), and becoming a Registered Nurse in 1996. She practiced for several years in the United States as a staff nurse, director of nursing, and nursing administrator. She later returned to Nigeria to work in humanitarian services and became active in politics.

In 2012, she coordinated and supervised some of the internally displaced people’s camps in Nigeria’s Delta State, in collaboration with various agencies and local government. In 2013, she was appointed as the Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Beautification, where she developed projects on afforestation, cleaner environment, vegetation control, flood prevention, recreational parks, and a unique solution to street trading. She resigned this appointment in October 2014 to enter the running for a State House of Assembly seat.

In March 2015, she was elected to the State House of Assembly as a legislator for a four-year term. During her time of service, she led and participated in several committees including Education, Social Service & Women Affairs, Health, Housing, Youth and Sport.

She is currently consulting for Gablink Inc., a home health agency she founded in 2004 in the United States. She is also the founder of Golden Rite Foundation, a non-governmental organization geared toward addressing the medical and health needs of the elderly and underprivileged.

Angela is a proud mother to two children, Chinedu and Hanatu.
