Speaking with Voice of America’s (VOA) Moses Garzeawu, former United States Ambassador to Liberia and former Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Linda Thomas-Greenfield emphasized her support for the EJS Center and discussed the vision for its flagship program, the Amujae Initiative:
“What the Amujae Initiative is about, it’s helping these women understand that they should not fear. That they should pursue their ambitions. And that they can succeed, and they will have the support of the older women, their elders, who have gone before them.”
She also highlighted the important work that has been done during the inaugural Amujae Forum, which convened the first cohort of participants in the Initiative. Thomas-Greenfield said:
“I think this is what we’ve been here doing over the past two days, is helping young women understand that they are ready to be successful in politics in Africa and giving them the support, the courage, the mentoring that they need to really launch their careers in politics. And I think we’re going to see some really positive results from the experiences that we’ve had today with the extraordinary women who participated in the Amujae Initiative.”
